My parents both died after a long battle with sickness. I wish they had each given me information on how to best assist them and grant their wishes, as they approached death, but they didn’t. This Guide is written in a friendly voice and combined with a very practical layout and super helpful tips along the way, it keeps you motivated to get the job done. Taking care of the end of life stuff is so important but something that can always be procrastinated or ignored. I want to leave my affairs in a good state for my kids who are going to have to deal with what I leave behind. Advance care planning is a gift to my family.
I learned a lot about the requirements of advance care planning in British Columbia through the Orderly Affairs advance care planning service. There are many details to consider but what I took away from it most was the gift of peace that I was giving to those I love, by relaying my end of life wishes well before I am at death's door. I also realized how much more clearly I could reflect on my values and beliefs around end of life wishes while I am still healthy. And although I may need to change my wishes over time, I am beginning a process that I would have definitely put off until much later, if at all. The beautifully illustrated and laid out workbook is presented in a very clear, step by step process that makes this subject matter approachable and I can always refer to it for more information.
